【Date】March 2nd, Saturday, 2019
【Venue】1st floor, Mie Environmental & Informational Platform, Mie University

Our two representative students participated in the Mie University Consortium Meeting 2018, which was held by the Mie University Unesco School committee. The purpose of the meeting was to share the activities of the schools in Mie prefecture to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted in the summit conference of the United Nations.
Hye-Sook Park, Ph.D., a professor of the Faculty of Humanities, Law and Economics & Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies of Mie University, whom Yokkaichi High School invited as a panelist at the SGH Super presentation on February 5th, 2019, made a presentation in the beginning. Followed by the presentation, SDGs activities were reported by an elementary school, two junior high schools, and three senior high schools.
Yokkaichi High School made a report on our SGH activities, the 2018 Super Global High School National High School Student Forum held at Tokyo International Forum on December 15th, 2018, and SGH Overseas Field Work in Cambodia, held from December 16th to December 21st, 2018. In the SGH Student Forum, our students reported that there were a lot of places in the world where many children were forced to be soldiers and that many landmines were still underground that might explode. The students participated in the fieldwork in Cambodia, where a lot of landmines still remained, and made a report of visiting the country. It takes a lot of time and money to eliminate landmines. Our students visited JMAS, which was established by Japanese people, and studied the present situations of the pollution of landmines and how to get rid of them. Through the presentation of the Consortium Meeting, they were able to learn the importance of enhancement of the communication ability by the presentaion aimed at many students, ranging from elementary students to university students. They were also stimulated by the activities of other schools and recognized the importance of the sustainable activities through SGH actions.
